How we work: independence, checking and disclosure

Short version

We are independent. No government agency, utility, bike brand or retailer owns, funds or edits this site. Our default order is alphabetical or by status, never by payment. Rankings and placements are never for sale.

How we check rebate programs

We read the official program page (state, city or utility) and record the amount, who qualifies, status, dates, how to claim, and the date we checked.
Status labels: Open (the page shows the program accepting applications or purchases), Opens soon (a dated window is scheduled), Waitlist (funds are claimed but the program keeps a list), Closed (the page says it is closed or the dates have passed), Status not verified (the page does not say).
If the page does not state a fact, we write "Not yet verified". We do not invent amounts, dates or funding levels.
"Open" does not mean funds remain. Many pages do not say how much money is left.
Where a page was last updated long ago, we show that date and flag it.

How we check e-bikes

Price, class, motor, battery, range, weight and warranty come from the brand's own product page on the date shown, with a link. Range numbers are brand claims.
If a spec was not on the page we could read, we write "Not yet verified".
Where a brand shows a higher price next to its current price, we note it as brand-displayed and not independently verified.
"Best for" lines and bike types are our own reading of the specs. We have not hands-on tested any bike.
Our sample is small: popular models from eight brands, not the whole market.

Independence and affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site may become affiliate links in the future, which means we could earn a commission if you buy through them. There are no affiliate links on this site today and we have not joined any affiliate programs. If we add them, we will label them clearly on the page. Affiliate status, commission rates and sponsorships will not change a listing, its wording, its caveats or its order. We do not imply that any government agency or utility endorses us or any product.

What this site is not

It is not tax, legal or financial advice, and we are not a government agency or program administrator. We cannot tell you whether you qualify. Only the program can.
